Electric-type cards in the Pokémon franchise have always been fan favorites, and this is no less true inPokémon TCG Pocket, even in its first set. In the past, this was mostlydue to Pikachu and their regular appearance on television shows. However, it has been a strong component in the meta of the tabletop game before, and now that it is available and easier to play on a mobile device, players can enjoy the Electric-type cards even more.

If a card is later mentioned that you don’t have, you can alwayscraft the card in thePokémon TCG Pocketfor yourself. This will cost Pack Points, but you may already have a stock of them that you don’t know what to do with. You should stay on the lookout for good cards, and it will bewell worth your while to check back in when a new set dropsto see if the rankings have changed.

Lt Surge in Pokemon TCG Pocket

10Lt. Surge

Support/Trainer

Yes, this is cheating a little bit. Yes,he is actually a Trainer card and not an Electric-type card. However, build a popular Electric-type deck without him, and what do you have? While he may not be as yellow on the outside, thisSupporter card in thePokémon TCG Pocketisdefinitely one of the best Electricity-geared cards you could findand play.

10 Missing Pokémon TCG Features That TCG Pocket Was Smart To Cut

Pokémon TCG Pocket made some smart changes to how the Pokémon trading card game worked in order to streamline the rules and make games faster.

This cardallows you to move all your Lightning Energy from Benched Pokémon to the Active Pokémonso long as it is Raichu, Electrode, or Electabuzz. This might give you an incentive to play more of those three, but it iswell worth it due to the synergies of something like Magneton. While he may only be Electric-type at heart, he definitely deserves to be on this list.

TCG Pocket Cards

9Pikachu

Basic Pokémon

That’s right, Pikachu is sitting near the bottom of the list. There are a few reasons why, but perhaps the most relevant is thatthere is a much better version of Pikachu, and you will want that out on the table if you may have it. However, this version of Pikachu does have its redeeming qualities, thebiggest one being that it can evolve into Raichu.

Raichu will have plenty of time to shine in the sun later, butPikachu has a weakness. The other reason it is so far down the list is its60 HP.

Electrode in Pokemon TCG Pocket

60

Weakness

Ground-type

Plenty of basic Pokémonhave ways to do over a hundred damage, which could ruin your game if you just have to sit there taking profile pics. However, no matter what, Pikachu is a very talented little ball of lightning to have on your side.

8Electrode

Stage 1 Pokémon

This guy is a little more of a tank, thoughnot quite at the higher levels you’d expect for a Stage 1 Pokémon. In fact, the card design for the Electric-type as a wholefeels like they are all quite vulnerable, and if they face their weakness, they will have a hard time keeping up.

80

Pincurchin in Pokemon TCG Player

However, Electrode hasdecent health at 80 and an attack of 70, making him quite an aggressive ball of lightning. And while the energy cost is a little higher, you should have both of the energy cards attachedonce you are able to evolve him, as you have a chance to put a bolt on Voltorb first.

This is where having a Lt. Surge might be helpful too if youwant to evolve Electrode and deploy them, and you would otherwise have no Energy.

Jolteon in Pokemon TCG Pocket

However, even with some of these abilities, there are better cards to come.

7Pincurchin

With a slightlyabove-average HP at 70, Pincurchin is a fearsome little beast. And while flipping the coin always seems a bit risky and too luck-based, Pincurchin will not cease attacking just because you have not flipped the coin the right way. In fact, this little guy will always do damage, but you have a new and unexpected chance for your opponent to enter Paralysis.

70

Pokemon TCG Pocket Psyduck Charizard and Pikachu over a scene from the immersive Charizard card-1

So with Pincurchin, you are getting the challenge right away, and that will be crucial to help you finish up more advanced games. They may not be the flashiest Pokémon, butflashy doesn’t matter if your opponent cannot attack.

6Jolteon

How this fox-like Pokémon has managed to avoid all of the attention so far, I would like to know myself. Particularly since the method of earning a Jolteon in other games is usually much harder. However,Jolteon just has to be pulled from a pack here, making him and the other Evee much more desirable in the game.

“Poor Psyduck”: Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Can’t Understand What’s Going On In This One Card

One of the immersive cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket has players very confused, sparking a discussion of what’s actually happening in the pictured scene.

Again, there is a caveat to its attack attempt, which may just work quite quickly to get what you need to defeat your opponent.

Raichu in Pokemon TCG Pocket

While this one also involves a coin flip, you have to flip four, meaning you have more chances to succeed now that it isn’t best of 1.

Jolteon canhit for a whopping 80 damage caused by the pull, which means they can be much more valuable than they seem at first.

Zebstrika in Pokemon TCG Pocket

90

Pin Missile - 40x

Pokemon TCG Pocket Exclusive Cards featuring Lapras, Gyarados, and Meowth

However, Jolteon is not quite as good as the next card on the list.

5Raichu

The evolution of Pikachu,Raichu is a different beast altogether. They have 100 HP on them, which is very important against other EX cards and potential leader support. And, while you will lose energy very quickly with this Pokémon,Lt. Surge keeps you well-endowedwith a steady supply of energy.

100

Magneton in Pokemon TCG Pocket

The more cards we get that can move or create energy, the more we have to use them to help us win. Raichu has not been part of my main deck just yet, buthis explosive force can be the end of the matteranyway. He will be particularly powerful againstWater Decks in thePokémon TCG Pocket.

4Zebstrika

This isone of my favorite cardsin the set so far. The concept is funny, and you can picture riding off on a sunset filled with lightning and the occasional terror of getting struck yourself as an added bonus. However, theability is why I like this Pokémon so much.

Thunder Spear - 30 damage

Despite its chaotic nature, I think that suits it just fine. There are a lot of fun abilities, and this one just sends 30 damage at a Pokémon your neighbor has either on the Bench or in the Active spot. There are only a few decks where this won’t matter, and it canget rid of a Pokémon on the bench that your opponent thought was safe. Or, at least, that’s how it is supposed to work.

3Zapdos EX

Basic EX Pokémon

This is a good example of the best cardshaving something you may hit with for quite cheap anda much higher option if you get all the energy you need. The idea of a very angry bird filled with lightning crossing the sky is quite terrifying enough, andthat might unsettle your opponent.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Fan Gets Tired Of Waiting For Physical Cards, Comes Up With A Brilliant Solution

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has some gorgeous app-only cards and one fan has found a perfect way to bring them into the real world.

Playing against it,you see another flip of the coins, another potential swarm of damage headed your way. And, at 130 HP, Zapdos EX would have no doubt sent damage your way and not worried about getting any in return.

130

Peck - 20; Thundering Hurricane - 50x

Electric-type

While there is a basic version of Zapdos, none of them are quite as good. The last time they tried, that battle didn’t end well for me,and changing it up was helped by my recovery from the injury.

2Magnetron

This is what your entire deck hinges on, as it allows you to stock up on energy and wait for the opportune moment. If you have Lt. Surge, this will be when you canswap the energy from this Pokémonwhile it acquires it on the bench and to the Active one. This keeps you well-prepared for anything.

Getting the Magnemite and then this card into your handwithin the first two turns is very important.

you may take this one off the bench and have them fight if necessary, but you will likely want to withdraw it andkeep it on the bench, creating an extra energy bolt every turn.

However, there is stillone more Electric-type cardthat beats out the rest.

1Pikachu EX

While finding this Pokémon just by opening packs is going to be a chore, it will be well worth it in the end.At double the Basic version of Pikachu’s HP, this Pokémon can swing hard and retaliate much better than the not-as-evolved one can.

120

This is because it will do 30 damage foreach of your Benched Pokemon, which means this Pokémon can deal up to 90 damage per turn without any assistance. Not only that, there is no coin flip on this one, making it one of the better aggression moves inPokémon TCG Pocket.
