The Nintendo Switch has been around since 2017, and it is high time the company released a second generation to this successful gaming console. Finally, after years of rumors and false alarms, we’re finally getting the real deal: the Nintendo Switch 2. While it’s not an official announcement yet, the teaser video is already live on YouTube, giving us an idea of what to expect.
A Larger Screen
The first thing you’ll see is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will come with a larger screen. The current Nintendo Switch uses a 6.2-inch LCD screen, while the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model uses a larger 7-inch display. The teaser video showed the Switch 2 going noticeably bigger, probably even hitting eight inches in size (although we’ll have to wait for official confirmation to really know).
We expected this to happen, as the phones we have today are much larger than what was commonly available nearly seven years ago. If the Switch 2 doesn’t offer a more immersive experience than your iPhone, why would you bother buying a handheld gaming console? But if the larger screen on the Nintendo Switch 2 will help you disconnect from work, then that’s one morereason you should get a handheld console instead of a gaming PC.

Two USB-C Ports
Although it may seem trivial, do not underestimate the utility of a second USB-C port on top of the Switch 2. This extra port will not only allow you to attach two wired peripherals to the handheld console, but its placement at the top would make it easier to charge it while you’re gaming in bed.
This means you’re able to prop it on your chest or stomach without having to worry about the USB cable poking you. This will also make your charging cable last longer, as you’re not putting stress on it when you’re resting the console on your body.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Is Coming Soon
Unfortunately, we don’t know yet when exactly the new console is coming, except that it will arrive this year. Aside from the first-look trailer that showed off some of its physical features and confirmed that its next-generation console is backwards compatible with Switch titles, the company didn’t say anything else about the new handheld console.
We’re excited to find more information about the Nintendo Switch 2 and share them with you as they come out, but this all that we know for now. Nevertheless, we can’t wait for February 4, as we expect the company to announce more details on that date. But despite our enthusiasm, some people are not as excited becausethe original Nintendo Switch still works finefor them.
