Mark Ruffalo’s return to theMarvel Cinematic Universeas the Hulk has become the latestDeadpool & Wolverinerumor following an old social media post from the director resurfacing. Even though only one film will be coming out fromthe MCU timelinein 2024, Marvel Studios is looking at one of its biggest releases yet. Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise the role of Wade Wilson inDeadpool & Wolverine, finally bringing his iconic character into the franchise alongside many other familiar faces.
WhiletheDeadpool & Wolverinemovie castis already filled with many announced returning Marvel actors, audiences are still trying to figure out some of the as of yet unrevealed characters that have been teased for the Phase 5 film. One popular candidate who many think will be returning to screens this summer is Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk.

Recently, an old post by directorShawn Levyfrom July 17, 2025, has garnered new attention with this in mind. Levy captioned the post"Little did I know…“while tagging Reynolds and Ruffalo after the trio’s work onThe Adam Project, which Levy directed for Netflix. The image featured showed Reynolds and Ruffalo lying on the ground in front of a trunk adorned with stickers, which notably include a Deadpool and Hulk sticker respectively, exacerbating theories that the pair will appear alongside one another on-screen in the MCU.
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Complicated Marvel Movie Canon Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine’s canon connections to Fox’s many X-Men movie timelines and the MCU aren’t exactly as straightforward as they may seem.
Technically, We Already Know Hulk Is In Deadpool & Wolverine
For the time being, Ruffalo hasn’t been formally announced to be showing up as Hulk inDeadpool & Wolverine. However, regardless of whether the actor actively is part of filming for the movie or not, the iconic Avenger is technically inDeadpool & Wolverine. However, it is not in the traditional way that many would expect, at least for the time being.
In the variousDeadpool & Wolverinetrailers, Wade has been getting glimpses of the MCU timeline through archival footage. At one point, TV screens at the Time Variance Authority include footage of Hulk fromAvengers: Age of Ultron. Whether or not Hulk shows up through additional old footage from previous MCU movies and TV shows remains to be seen, although it wouldn’t be shocking if other scenes from the franchise’s history incuding the character are also shown in the film.

Even if Hulk doesn’t make it intoDeadpool & Wolverinewith an actual cameo, he could always come face-to-face with Wade in future MCU projects. As The Multiverse Saga is getting closer to its end, something likeAvengers: Secret Warscould always be an ideal film for the two heroes to share the screen down the line. However, asDeadpool & Wolverinearrives in theaters in only a few weeks, the world will know soon enough if Hulk is or isn’t in the MCU summer blockbuster adventure.
