How To Get The Highest Health Cap In BG3
Combining Class, Race, And Feats To Make An Unkillable Hero
One must make several choices in character creation before the game even begins to reach the health cap ofBaldur’s Gate 3. First, you must become a barbarian, the class which gains the most hit points per level:twelve at first-level, and seven at each subsequent level. You must also choose a specific race:the gold dwarf, which gains one additional hit point at each level. At some point later on, this character must also pick up the tough feat, providing two extra points of health per level.

There are two spells that are also crucial to attaining maximum health:Heroes' Feast, and a sixth-level casting of aid.Attaining the maximum constitution score possible is important, as well, since constitution directly impacts how much health one gains at each level. This can be done with ability score improvements to get up to 20, or even better, up to 23 with a specific piece of gear: theAmulet of Greater Health.

How To Get The Amulet Of Greater Health
The True Reward For Fighting Raphael
This amulet is located inthe House of Hope, a devil’s manor within the Hellsthat can’t be reached until theBG3’s Third Act. It is stored in the manor’s archives atop a trapped pedestal, but a character with good stealth and sleight of hand skills can easily disarm the trap and swipe the necklace. This amulet sets one’s constitution score to 23, the highest it can go in the game, giving you an extra six points of health per level. With all of that combined, a twelfth-level gold dwarf barbarian would have a grand total of 222 hit points.
This calculation assumes the characters in question are playing on balanced, tactician, or honour mode; however, playing the game in explorer mode doubles the base number of hit points a character has, which does technically make the highest HP cap closer to 400.
This does not even include sources of temporary HP like the Tharchiate Vigour enchantment or armour of agathys. That’san immense amount of health, equivalent to some late-game bosses; however, it’s worth noting that even a character with this much health could be defeated by some of thestrongest attacks inBaldur’s Gate 3.
