Chief Ji Was Hiding Her Monster Son At The Stadium In Sweet Home
She Didn’t Want To See Him Burned Alive
InSweet Home season 2, it was revealed that Chief Ji was hiding a monster in the stadium. This was a shock, particularly as she demanded that Sergeant Tak (Yoo Oh-seong) prove he was not a monster. It was theorized that the monster in the stadium was her husband, who Lee Eun-yu (Go Min-si) ultimately killed in self-defense after he had shown signs of turning. However,Sweet Homerevealed that the monster is actually Chief Ji’s son, Hyun-woo (Choi Hyun-jin).
Flashbacks revealed that while aiming to seek shelter at the Olympic stadium, Hyun-woo became symptomatic. This prompted Chief Ji to hide her son in one of the neighboring stadiums. Though filling the stadium full of other survivors wasn’t necessarily in Chief Ji’s plan, the symptomatic individuals who were kicked out were used to her advantage. Just like she did with Seung-wan (Woo Jung-kook) inSweet Home season 2, episode 8,Chief Ji fed those with symptoms to her son to satisfy his hunger. That was until her secret was exposed.

What Happened To Chief Ji In Sweet Home Season 3
She Finally Got To Be With Her Son
Conversations with Ye-seul (Yang Hye-ji) inSweet Homeseason 3 reveal just how much Chief Ji loves her son, and how much she resented Ye-seul as her “adoptive” daughter. Chief Ji would clearly do anything for her son, even if it meant making him a murderer in the process. Though Chief Ji initially tries to end her life after the discovery of her secret, she chooses to help Sergeant Tak and reveal the secret entrance to the stadium. However, after not much else is heard from Chief Ji after that.
Though Ye-seul refers to Chief Ji as “mom” throughoutSweet Home, it’s revealed her real mother died when the infection began.
In episode 3, Chief Ji enters the secret room where her son is, choosing to take responsibility for her reckless actions. Though there are many possibilities as to what happened to Chief Ji at theend ofSweet Home, including turning into a monster or her son entering a cocooning phase just as Lee Eun-hyuk (Lee Do-hyun) did,it’s most likely that Hyun-woo ate his motherjust as he had eaten all the other survivors. It’s a shame that Chief Ji’s story ended so soon inSweet Homeseason 3. However, her final tale added another layer of complexity to the stories of the survivors.
