Why Do Zelda Fans Love Skull Kid?

A Cosplay Worthy Of A Great Villain

It’s no wonder why apophisreaper opted to create their immaculate Skull Kid cosplay given both the character’s iconic design and how much the player base adores the sneaky scoundrel. The cosplayer notes that creating the mask took a great deal of “love and patience” to get the colors correctand the finish just to where they wanted it. The actual base of the mask is made of EVA foam and the wood grain effect was created with a Dremel to sand in the necessary grooves. The effort clearly paid off as the cosplayer has successfully paid tribute to one ofthe most tragicZeldacharacters.

While Skull Kid may serve as the primary antagonist ofMajora’s Mask, his motivation for bringing the moon crashing down to Termina isn’t simply to destroy the world. The game reveals that the villain is simply lonely after having lost many of the friends he made as a child, a fact that Majora’s Mask uses to influence his actions and sway his goals. Once the Mask is destroyed, Skull Kid’s unsettling behavior becomes more natural as he accepts his place in the hearts of his previous friends and moves forward with his life.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Maskisstill a master class in fantastic character designand this is exemplified by Skull Kid. Even without Majora’s Mask corrupting him, his broad smile and staring eyes still invoke a sense of unease that’s difficult to shake even if he initially means Link no harm.To capture that essence within a cosplay is both true talent and dedication.
