Available to new or existing Skybound Insiders members, submissions will be featured in a special ad in an upcoming issue ofG.I. Joe.
All readers have to do is submit a picture of themselves and their chosen allegiance to the Skybound Insiders website or www.GIJoeChooseYourSide.com. According to Skybound,every eligible submission will run in the new series, and will run throughout the series until each one has been featured.

After the incredible success the Energon Universe has experienced so far, it stands to reason thatG.I. Joe #1will be one of the biggest comic book launches of the year. The team came together through the course of the previousDukeminiseries, where it was officially formed by Col. Hawk todeal with the threat of the Transformers. The subsequentCobra Commanderseries saw the title character form the dreaded Cobra organization after taking control of a store of Energon in the Louisiana swamplands. Given all that,it’s only a matter of time until the two factions come to blows.
Allowing fans to choose their side also recallsSkybound’s recent Kickstarter collectionof the original Marvel Comics series by Larry Hama, which allowed backers to choose between Joe and Cobra designs for their hardcover sets.Considering that campaign is now the most successful comics project in Kickstarter history,G.I. Joefever is stronger now than it’s ever been. Giving fans the opportunity to choose their side in the never-ending war between G.I. Joe and Cobra is another genius bit of marketing for the Energon Universe on Skybound’s behalf, just like the surprise announcement of the line at the end ofVoid Rivals #1.
The chance to have their picture shown in an actualG.I. Joecomic book will be an opportunity too tantalizing for many fans to resist, and being able to choose either the “Joe” or “Cobra” side is a fun way for fans to get involved. Who knows? Perhaps the publisher has even more ideas for fans to get involved in future comics. Perhaps Skybound could kick things up a notch by having fans drawn in to the comic itself as Steel Brigade troopers in the future. When it comes toG.I. Joeand theEnergon Universe, it’s becoming clear that anything is possible.
