This was quietly hinted at in the show’s memorial service for the character, which proved that theGhostsseason’s cliffhanger endingwas not necessarily solved yet. Sam and the ghosts saying goodbye to Flower’s mugshot since they couldn’t find another photo hinted that she wasn’t gone, as that would have been a terrible sendoff.
Admittedly, it is not beyond the realms of possibility given the show’s dark, irreverent sense of humor. However, Sam and the rest of the ghosts saying their farewells to a mugshot felt particularly unfair because of how uniquely kind and harmless Flower is. The gag hinted at the possibility that this was not really her last appearance in the series. Sure enough, Flower returned and became a series regular again after escaping the well. This could have been a copout if her departure was taken more seriously, but the irreverence of Flower’s entire memorial service already foreshadowed her return.
