9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Synopsis Teases An Original Character’s Exit, Release Date Revealed
Summary
A new trailer for9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 has been released, revealing Grace’s replacement following Sierra McClain’s exit from the procedural drama. It was previously confirmed that McClain would not be reprising her role as the 9-1-1 operator during9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, exiting after having appeared in every season of the show up to that point. This leaves a hole within the team yet to be filled, something that would indicate the introduction of a new character. However, the show is seemingly going a more creative route.
In a trailer on FOX filmed by911TVNEWS(viaTVLine), it’s revealed thatJudd’s son, Wyatt, will be replacing Grace as a 9-1-1 dispatcher during9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5.

The trailer teases her son now taking over her role on the team, as the group deals with new and extremely deadly situations arising within Austin, Texas. The fact Wyatt will now be in the middle of the action is a major sign of the direction the series is taking.
Why Wyatt Is The Perfect Replacement For Grace In 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5
Earlier in the series, the young man was gearing up to follow in Judd’s footsteps, hoping to become a firefighter just like his dad. However, in the9-1-1: Lone Starseason 4 finale,Wyatt had just undergone spinal surgery following a biking accident that almost cost him his life. This resulted in a firefighting career no longer being viable for him, something that no doubt had a hand in pushing him to become a dispatcher like Grace. His new role in season 5 may even reflect some of the work she did.
Because of the relationship between Judd and Grace over the course of the show,Wyatt is likely to follow in her footsteps because he’s likely familiar with the position thanks to her. While it’s not something that he wanted to do in the previous season, his new role will still give him the chance to save people, even if it’s from afar. While most of the9-1-1: Lone Starcastwill see the action he helps to report, he’ll still have a chance to help others, despite it not being the form he was hoping.

Wyatt might end up questioning his place on the team because of everything he’s been through, wishing he still had the opportunity to follow in his father’s footsteps. But with Judd taking some time off himself, it’s possible for some father and son interactions in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 to guide him in his newfound role. While it’s not the position the young man wanted for himself, the new episodes can show his developing skills as he assists people from afar.
9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 could potentially be the final season, however this has yet to be confirmed.
