Summary

Thor’s Asgardian armor was actually much more powerful than theMCUportrayed it to be. Thor was the first intergalactic being to be introduced to the MCU, so his Asgardian weapons and technology were already unlike anything the characters from Earth had ever seen. InMarvel’s realm of Godsthat constantly used magic, it makes sense that their resources would have to withstand the strongest of powers. For how much Asgard has been featured in the MCU, the franchise has never truly gone into how powerful Asgardian armor actually is.

Time and time again, MCU projects have mentioned vibranium as the strongest metal in the world. Not only can it be used as a raw metal for weapons and tools, but it has also proven to strengthen clothes, power cities, and even grow agriculture. Many MCU heroes have turned to vibranium equipmentin battle, such as Black Panther’s suit and Captain America’s shield. With the sheer strength of vibranium, it’s no wonder that Earth values it so much. However, the MCU has never stated how vibranium would stand up to something like Asgardian armor.

7 Thor Weapons Still Missing From The MCU

Several weapons tied to Thor’s adventures in Marvel Comics have never been used in the MCU. Will they ever make their live-action debuts?

The MCU Underplayed How Powerful Thor’s Armor Is

The MCU never deliberately pointed out how powerful Asgardian technology was in comparison to the technology on Earth, but with literal Gods hailing from Asgard, it was always just assumed the true power of their resources. While obviously powerful, the true strength of Thor’s armor was underplayed in the MCU. Many see Mjolnir asThor’s main source of power, buthis armor has done just as much to withstand battle, such as inAvengers: Infinity Warwhen Thor is able to withstand the full power of a star on Nidavellir.

Thor clearly feels pain while taking the force of the star on Nidavellir, but his armor remains mostly unscathed afterward. It also debunks the theory that Thor’s armor is made from uru, the same metal as his weapons, as uru armor should’ve melted from the heat of a star. It’s never said exactly what Thor’s Asgardian armor is made of in the MCU, but it can be safely assumed that magic plays a part. With how Thor has been able to summon his armor by magic, it makes sense that it would also have the strength of such powers.

Thor

Associated with the mythical realm of Asgard, Thor is a Marvel Comics hero who channels the power of thunder to slay their foes. Though the name is chiefly tied to Thor Odinson, several other characters also take on the role of God of Thunder, including Odinson’s love interest, Jane Foster. Odin is portrayed as a physically imposing hero with incredible strength and typically wields the dwarven forged hammer, Mjolnir.

How Strong Asgardian Armor Is Compared To Vibranium

Vibranium is incredibly strong in its own right, which is why it is such a sought-after resource. It is the basis of multiple weapons and suits, even helping to create life with Vision’s body. The main strength of vibranium is that it’s stronger than steel but a third of the weight, and it is vibration-absorbent.However, vibranium is not completely invincible as individuals like Scarlet Witch and Thanos have been able to do damage to it. Though vibranium has undoubtedly enhanced Earth’s heroes beyond belief, it still has a competitor in Asgardian armor.

What Is Vibranium & How Does It Work? Black Panther’s Mystery Metal Explained

Black Panther’s fictional metal vibranium has become a big part of the MCU, having become a major resource and weapon with multiple appearances.

Vibranium has been shown to withstand plenty of damage in the MCU, but the fact thatThor’s Asgardian armor was able to hold up against the full force of a starshould be enough proof that it is the more powerful material. While vibranium has the strength to power cities and nurture life, Asgardian armor likely has the power of magic embedded in it. The complete strength ofThor’s armor was definitely underplayed in the films, but it’s clear that it is some of the strongest material in the MCU.
