Why Use the Do Not Disturb Mode?

Imagine you are in an important meeting. You forgot to mute your speaker and then suddenly your PC starts to blip with notifications. This is where the Do Not Disturb mode comes in.

When you turn on the Do Not Disturb mode, you basically mute or disable all notification sounds and pop-ups from your screen, allowing you to focus on the task at hand or be fully present in that important meeting.

Enabling the Do Not Disturb Mode on Ubuntu

The easiest way to enable the Do Not Disturb mode is from the notifications center, which is located at the top center of your screen. This is where your date and time are displayed by default.

Click on the notifications center, and you’ll be presented with a drop-down notifications menu. TheDo Not Disturbtoggle button is located in the bottom left corner of the notifications center.

Toggle on theDo Not Disturbbutton to disable pop-up notifications. To allow notifications again, simply toggle off theDo Not Disturbbutton.

Alternatively, you can also access the Do Not Disturb feature in the settings area. Press theSuper + Ashortcut keys, and selectSettingsfrom the list of applications presented.

Within the settings menu, selectNotificationsand press theDo Not Disturbtoggle button to turn on or off the Do Not Disturb mode.

For fine-grained control and customization of notifications, you can access the Do Not Disturb mode from the Notifications menu under settings.
