How to Install the Android 14 Beta on Your Google Pixel
Ahead of Android 14’s release later in 2023, Google has made the OS available for beta testing. By joining the Beta program, you can try out the upcoming new features in Android 14 ahead of its full launch.
If you own a compatible Pixel phone and want to give it a try, follow our guide on how to install the Android 14 Beta.

Android 14 Beta Compatible Phones
The Android 14 Beta program is only available for selected Pixel phones. Google has not opened the program for non-Pixel devices, though this may happen eventually. The following Pixels are eligible to join the Android Beta program:
Older Pixel phones not listed above will not receive the stable Android 14 build. However, depending on their age, they may continue to get monthly security patches from Google for the foreseeable future.

Once your phone installs the Android 14 Beta, it automatically receives OTA updates for future beta builds. In total, Google plans to roll out five beta builds of Android 14 before its release in August or September 2023. However, if more bugs are reported, the company could drop more beta builds ahead of the final public release.
Installing the Android 14 Beta on your Pixel will not wipe your stored data. However, it is still recommended that youcreate a backup of your Android phonebefore proceeding further.

If your Pixel is already on the Android 13 QPR Beta channel, it will automatically receive an OTA update to the Android 14 Beta. In case you want to stay on the Android 13 Beta channel, ignore the Android 14 Beta download notification. Your Pixel will automatically get the next Android 13 QPR Beta when Google drops a new build.
There are multiple ways to install the Android 14 Beta on your Pixel phone. The easiest way is to enroll in the Android Beta program, download the OTA, and install it.

Depending on your Pixel phone, the OTA download size could be around 1.8 to 2.3GB. So, connect your phone to a speedy Wi-Fi network and ensure it has sufficient charge before starting the process.
Manually Flash the Android 14 Beta Factory Image on Your Pixel
If, for some reason, you cannot join the Android Beta program, you can flash the Android 14 Beta factory image on your phone instead. This process is a lot more convoluted and requires you to have a bit of technical knowledge. This also requires access to a PC or laptop and a USB cable.
Using the flash tool requires you to unlock your phone’s bootloader. All data stored on your Pixel is erased during this process. If you cannot unlock your Pixel’s bootloader for some reason, you cannot flash the factory image.

Windows users, install the necessaryGoogle USB driveron your PC before following the steps below.
How to Roll Back Your Pixel to Android 13
Given that Android 14 will be in the public beta testing stage for a few months, you are bound to run into bugs and issues. So, once you have tried out all the new Android 14 features, you can always roll back your Pixel to Android 13 for a more stable experience until the final Android 14 build drops later in 2023.
Rolling back to the stable Android 13 from the Android 14 Beta will wipe your Pixel clean of all data. So, back up all your important data on the device before proceeding with the steps below.
If you flashed the Android 14 factory image manually, you’ll have to use the flash tool to wipe and flash the Android 13 image on your Pixel.
Try Out Android 14 Ahead of Its Release
By joining the Android Beta program, you’re able to try out Android 14 ahead of its public release. But remember not to base your experience on the beta build since it is bound to have bugs and issues. Instead, only focus on trying out the new features as that’s what the beta is all about.
Make sure to report all bugs and issues you encounter to Google so that they are resolved in future builds.
