Understanding how Amorphous Materials work inThe First Descendantcan be challenging as it is not clear initially. However, once you understand what it does and how it works, you can decide how to use them to get certain research projects moving faster. This allows you torefine some of your loot and turn it into something you want more of instead oftaking random loot you did not want.

There is a lot ofloot to collect inThe First Descendant, making it difficult to pick through it and decide what is best for you. There are also many different ways to get loot, and fortunately, the game provides alist of different rewards when you look at various missions. However, seeing “Amorphous Materials” as a reward listing is not very clear, and there is a little bit of a learning curve where that is concerned.

How To Get & Open Amorphous Materials

Void Intercept Battles

Getting Amorphous Materials is easy, as you willreceive them as a reward for completing various missions across the map. They can be seen listed with other pieces of loot in the mission description. Opening and using the Amorphous Materials is the tricky part.

The main way to open Amorphous Materials is to find and complete a Void Intercept Battle. This will require you to fight and defeat bosses that exist within those missions. These range from Level 10 to Level 95 for normal bosses, with three difficult bosses over Level 100 for you to face.

The best way to deal with these Colossi bosses is tohit their destructible parts and keep them stunned. When a part turns yellow, you can grapple to it and rip the part off, dealing a large amount of damage.

you’re able to play these battles as aprivate or public mission, and if you do not have friends to play with, it is suggested you open a public mission to get some help with the mission, as at its core,The First Descendantis made to be multiplayer. The difficulty is scaled with that in mind. If a teammate is downed during the mission, you can pick them up and rescue them before they die. You are onlyallowed three deathsbefore the mission fails, so keep that in mind.

What To Do With Amorphous Materials

Opening & Selecting Components

Once the battle with the Colossi boss has finished, you will be able toapproach the Reconstructed Device and choose to open any Amorphous Materialsyou have on hand. When you open them, it will give you an option as to what component you can claim from them, and they arecomponents necessary for research projectsyou have.

However, the main thing to note here is that you maynotwant to open all your Amorphous Materials simultaneously. This is because each boss is linked to a different “material patterns” soeach boss can turn your Amorphous Materials into different items. For example, the first Level 10 boss has access to Amorphous Material Patterns 2-5 and Bunny, so it can only offer you what those patterns have available.

Make sure you go into the fight knowing what you are looking for. As it takes a lot of material to unlockcharacters inThe First Descendantthrough research, it is best ifyou focus on one at a time. That will make it easier to decide which boss to fight and which components to pick when you get the chance.
