Summary

Marvel Studios’Deadpool & Wolverinecould easily rip off one powerful scene fromLokiseason 1, but I think this would work perfectly in the upcomingMCUmovie. I’m so excited to see Hugh Jackman suit up in a comic-accurate costume (for the first time ever) as Wolverine in the MCU’s Phase 5, but I’m one of many who are confused about how this will happen without reversing the emotional ending ofLogan. Thankfully, it seemsWolverine’s death in Fox’sX-Menfranchisewill somehow remain intact, but this raises questions forDeadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine’sfirst official trailerseemed to hint at this version of Wolverine being one we haven’t actually met before. This version of Wolverine seems to have caused some catastrophic event in his world, making him a more brutal, troubled, and short-tempered incarnation of the clawed X-Men hero. Taking Wolverine from another reality is a great way to retainLogan’sending while bringing Hugh Jackman back in his iconic role, and this also creates the opportunity for Marvel Studios to repeat one ofLoki’smost important moments.

Deadpool & Wolverine Should Repeat Loki’s Saddest Scene

First released in June 2021,Lokiseason 1’s premiere saw the variant ofTom Hiddleston’s original Lokiwho escaped inAvengers: Endgamearrive at the Time Variance Authority.TheLokiscene that sticks out the most to me saw Loki watch back flashes of his variant’s life in the TVA, including his redemption arc and tragic death at the hands of Thanos. Watching back this reel had a huge impact on Loki, setting him on his journey to save the multiverse, and I would love to see this scene repeated inDeadpool & Wolverine.

Since it seems thatHugh Jackman’s character inDeadpool & Wolverineis from a different universe to that of Fox’sX-Menfranchise, he could be shown a similar reel detailing what the timeline of his life should have been. It’s unclear when the timelines of Fox’s Wolverine andDeadpool & Wolverine’sWolverine would have diverged, but the TVA could show Wolverine snippets from the originalX-Mentrilogy,X-Men: Days of Future Past, and his solo trilogy. This would culminate in Wolverine witnessing the events ofLogan, learning about his daughter and seeing his own demise.

Why Wolverine Started To Lose His Healing Power In Logan

In Logan’s dark future timeline, Wolverine was losing his mutant healing factor. Here is the reason why Logan got sick and why his powers failed him.

Wolverine Seeing His Life Could Convince Him To Join Deadpool

Learning about the multiverse may give Logan hope that there are better worlds out there.

Deadpool & Wolverine’strailers and teasers have proven that Wolverine will initially be hesitant to join Deadpool on his mysterious mission. He evidently does at some point, however, and bringing him to the TVA and showing him his life and death could be the catalyst for this decision. It looks likeWolverine did something that may have wiped out the X-Menof his world, but the TVA could show him that this wasn’t how his life was supposed to go.Learning about the multiverse may give Logan hope that there are better worlds out there.

Additionally,Wolverine watching his life and death back thanks to the TVA’s technology would inform him of his biological daughter, Laura, a.k.a. X-23, who was portrayed by Dafne Keen inLogan.Keen has denied her involvement inDeadpool & Wolverine, but this new information could convince Logan to head out with Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth to find a universe he could be happy in. Although it may seem repetitive, copyingLoki would create some hugely emotional moments inDeadpool & Wolverinethat I would love to see.
