Summary

Jason Statham worked with some great co-stars inThe Beekeeper, and one of them would be a perfect fit to join theFast & Furiousfranchise next. Statham joined the popular action blockbuster series in thecredits scene ofFast & Furious 6, setting him up to be the main villain ofFurious 7. He’s gone on to play pivotal roles in multiple installments as Deckard Shaw, going from a franchise bad guy to an unlikely ally. Throughout his time in the car-focused franchise, Statham has continued to deliver more traditional action movies, such asThe Beekeeper.

The Beekeeper’s castis filled with some notable stars, most of whom work with Jason Statham for the first time. Whether it’s Josh Hutcherson, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Phylicia Rashad, Minnie Driver, Jemma Redgrave, or Jeremy Irons, most of the co-stars make cases for why they should continue working with Statham. This couldhappen inThe Beekeeper 2for some of them, but it would also be exciting to see the $152 million action movie be a springboard for one cast member in particular to follow Statham toFast & Furiousand join the Fast Saga in a major role.

I’m Still Waiting For The Beekeeper 2’s Announcement 6 Months After Jason Statham’s $152M Hit

After becoming a surprise box office hit early in 2024, The Beekeeper still hasn’t gotten the green light for a sequel despite its financial success.

Jeremy Irons Would Be A Great Fast & Furious Villain After The Beekeeper

He Has A History Of Playing Great Villains

Jeremy Irons plays a major role inThe Beekeeperas a supporting antagonist, Wallace Westwyld, a former CIA director who works for the main villain’s family. His role is smaller than other cast members, but Irons still leaves an impression on viewers with his performance. This is understandable since Irons has a history of playing memorable villains, whether voicing Scar inThe Lion Kingor playing Simon Gruber inDie Hard With a Vengeance. His interactions with Statham are minor inThe Beekeeper, soit would be fun to see them share the screen in a bigger capacity.

Fast & Furiousis the perfect opportunity for Jeremy Irons and Jason Statham to work together again. The Fast Saga is nearing its finale, but the franchise could live on even if the main Toretto storyline ends. It is easy to imagine Irons sliding into a role as a career criminal, a corrupt member of a government agency, or many other character types and becoming one of thebestFast & Furiousvillains. He’d bring a necessary gravitas to the franchise in any villain rolethat would make his character easily feared by audiences and the characters alike.

Jeremy Irons Is A Perfect Fit For Deckard Shaw’s Father

Papa Shaw Has Never Been Mentioned

An exciting possibility for who Jeremy Irons could play inFast & Furiousis Deckard Shaw’s father. The franchise has introduced fourmembers of the Shaw family: Jason Statham’s Deckard, Luke Evans' Owen as Deckard’s brother, Vanessa Kirby’s Hattie as Deckard’s sister, and Helen Mirren’s Queenie as Deckard’s mother. There has been no appearance by Deckard’s father nor any mention of him in Statham’s various film roles. That leaves a blank slate for the character to be introduced in a major capacity.

Vin Diesel once teased that Michael Caine was his idea for who would play Deckard’s father, but Caine is now retired from acting.

Jeremy Irons would be a perfect fit to play Deckard Shaw’s dad inFast & Furiousif the franchise ever plans to include him. Every cast member of the Shaw family is a major British star, which Irons also is. He is also in the right age range to believably be Statham’s father and Mirren’s husband. Jeremy Irons playing Mr. Shaw as a powerful criminal who is distant from his family holds great potential for theFast & Furiousfranchise. And since Statham and Irons seemingly enjoyed working together onThe Beekeeper, this could be a great next step.
