Love Hurtshasdebuted with a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score. The action-comedy movie, which was directed by stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, stars Ke Huy Quan as Marvin Gable, a seemingly wholesome realtor whose past as a hitman catches up with him, sending him on an action-packed adventure with a former associate, Rose (Ariana DeBose). TheLove Hurtscastalso includes Daniel Wu, Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, André Eriksen, and Sean Astin.
Ariana DeBose is also an Oscar winner, having won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 2021’sWest Side Story.
Rotten Tomatoeshas now aggregated an official score for the new Key Huy Quan movies. At the time of writing,theLove HurtsTomatometer score is a thoroughly Rotten 21%, aggregated from 34 different critics' reviews. This falls far below the “Fresh” threshold of 60%, though its average rating of 4.7 out of 10 reveals that the reviews themselves are more middling than they are truly negative. Generally, critics seem to agree that the movie is both overstuffed and lackluster, which is not a winning combination.
