InTMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #2, the family crowd around Odyn, who was struck down by paralysis in their latest fight. However, as the issue continues, it’s revealed that not only is he fine, but he’s actually manifesting his new superpower -the ability to turn his skin rock-hard, making him invulnerable. The issue ends with Yi following suit, throwing up an electric force field to protect her family.
The issue makes it clear that because of April mutating this new batch of turtles, their genetic structures are each uniquely different, suggesting that each has their own power.
Not only do the new turtles have individual powers, but they also possess sibling telepathy, allowing them to communicate with each other without speaking.

TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolutionis the sequel to the iconicLast Ronin, which depicted a dark future whereMichelangelo was the last surviving turtle. The series ended with four new turtles being raised by April O’Neil’s daughter Casey Marie Jones, with theLost Yearsminiseries offering a glimpse into their childhoods. As ofRe-Evolution, they’re finally teens and ready to go out and fight for the post-Apocalyptic New York, finally freed from Foot Clan control, but now infested with all kinds of new threats.
Yi, Moja, Uno and Odyn are each named for the word ‘One’ in a language from a country Mikey visited during his quest as the Last Ronin, with the intent of reminding them they’re stronger as a family.
From theLost Yearsseries, fans already knew that Uno can switch his markings, choosing to either have light blue skin with a black mark or vice versa. Thispower makes the warrior stealthier in the dark, but it’s not in the same league as the elemental abilities that food-obsessed Odyn and tech geek Yi have demonstrated. It’s a pretty sure bet that the final sibling, the irritable Moja, will also discover her power as the series continues, and that Uno may get another, more extreme ‘power’ as well.
However, the series also sounds a note of caution about this development, as the former Fugitoid warns April that her attempt to recreate the original TMNT was doomed to failure. While she’s created a family of warriors, their bond, actions and even DNA is unpredictable, and while they may mirror the originals,they’re actually something new - something which may not actually be for the good of humankind. Fans will only find out if this dark prediction is true asTMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolutioncontinues, hopefully revealing Moja and Uno’s powers as it goes.
