Summary
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for X-Men: Blood Hunt - Laura Kinney the Wolverine #1!There are few things in the Marvel UniverseWolverine’s claws cannot kill, as the adamantium that laces them can slice through just about anything - and the same is true for his daughter (also known as Wolverine), Laura Kinney. However, just because their claws are super strong, doesn’t mean they work against anyone, as supernatural beasts that come with specific ‘killing instructions’ are all but immune to their effect. At least, that’s what fans thought, until Laura seemingly got herself a supernatural upgrade.
In a preview forX-Men: Blood Hunt - Laura Kinney the Wolverine#1 by Stephanie Phillips and Robert Gill, Laura is being hunted by a gang of vampires, though it becomes immediately obvious that it’s Wolverine who’s doing the hunting. During the ongoingBlood Huntevent, the world’s vampires have blocked out the sun using Darkforce Energy, as they intend to take over the world - and Wolverine is doing her part to stop them.

Hiding in the rafters of an abandoned dilapidated building,Wolverine pounces on the vampirespursuing her, and she’s wielding nothing more than her adamantium-laced claws. With relative ease, Wolverine slices through the supernatural monsters, stabbing them in the stomach, neck, and chest, until their blood is spilled all over the floor, and they lie there, dead. And it’s that last part which is the standout, as Wolverine just proved that her claws can kill vampires - which is something they should not be able to do.
Wolverine Upgrades His Healing Factor with the Nova Force, Giving Him a New Immunity
Wolverine just became Marvel Comics' all-new Nova, and with that came a pretty significant upgrade to his healing factor, giving him a new immunity.
Wolverine’s Claws Have the Power to Kill Vampires in Marvel Comics
As established throughout Marvel Comics history, there are very specific ways one can kill a vampire, and they must be followed. Most of their weaknesses in the Marvel Universe come from real world myth, with sunlight, garlic, and wooden/silver stakes through the heart being some of the most common weapons with which one can fight and defeat a vampire. However, what’s not on the list (despite its proven strength), is adamantium.
Adamantium can cut through practically anything, but to a vampire, getting stabbed or sliced by the metal would amount to little more than a flesh wound. However, in this preview, Wolverine has seemingly killed three vampires with her adamantium claws alone, which implies that they now carry supernatural properties. While that prospect is insanely cool (and means Laura should join the ranks of a new Midnight Suns immediately), there is also another possibility aside from ‘supernatural claws’.

If Marvel gave fans an in-world explanation for how Wolverine’s claws can now kill vampires, then that would be an awesome addition to her power set. However, no explanation has been given, meaning the fact that she can is totally unprecedented. That means either a major upgrade happened off-panel, or these vampires aren’t actually dead. The preview ends with Wolverine entering another room after ‘killing’ the vampires, with the last panel showing her walking through the door. But, whatever dangers lie ahead, the real threat may be behind her, as it’s all too likely those vampires are still ‘alive’.
While it seems more likely that the vampires Laura Kinney took down are just playing dead, that’s nowhere near as fun as the idea that she just got a massive supernatural upgrade. The ‘how’ has simply yet to be explained, but what fans do know is what has been clearly shown:Wolverine’s claws now seemingly have the supernatural ability to kill vampires, and that’s insanely badass.
