Microsoft is pushing its Copilot AI tool more than ever, and as part of that, it frequently adds new features and improves existing ones. In early February 2024, Microsoft rolled out a bunch of new Copilot features, including suggested prompts, image editing, and more, and this is how you may start using them now.

A Simplified Look, More Suggested Prompts

When you visit Copilot, you’ll notice a fun new carousel of suggested prompts. These prompts are there to inspire you and showcase the power of Copilot.

For instance, you might stumble upon a prompt that nudges you to explore the world of handmade furniture for a snug apartment. Or perhaps a prompt that piques your curiosity with a hypothetical face-off between a bear and a lion.

So, if you’re looking for inspiration on DIY projects, thought experiments, or just something fun to get your creative juices flowing, there should be a prompt in there that grabs your attention.

Deucalion Upgrade for Balanced Mode

Microsoft rolled out an upgraded model forCopilot’s Balanced modecalled Deucalion. As Jordi Ribas shared on X, this fine-tuned model provides improvements when using the more conservative Balanced setting.

Early reports indicate that Deucalion generates thorough and well-researched content in response to prompts.

Enhanced Image Creation Capabilities

Microsoft also updated Copilot with a feature that allows you to edit images generated with DALL-E 3 inside Copilot without leaving the tab or using any image editing programs. Here is how you can use this feature to create and edit amazing images in Copilot:

Once Copilot generates images from your prompt, choose the one you like the most. Below the image is a bottom bar with different style options. These options are based on popular art movements, such asPixel art,Watercolor,Block print,Steampunk, and more. Click to select a new style, and Microsoft Designer will modify your image with the selected style. You can see the result instantly and compare it with the original image.

You can also edit specific parts of the image. With your mouse, hover over and click to outline areas (in purple) like elements on the main subject, background, etc.

Now you’ll seeColor popandBlur backgroundoptions below the image.

Color popwill make the selected part stand out by desaturating the rest of the image.

Blur backgroundwill blur the image’s background, creating a shallow depth of field.

Once you are happy with your edited image, you can copy, download, or grab a shareable link to the image.

Custom Copilot GPTs

Copilot GPTs are custom GPTs that allow you to have more personalized conversations tailored to specific topics. At the time of writing, there are three you can chat with for free: the Vacation Planner to talk about travel, the Cooking Assistant for recipe ideas, and a Fitness Trainer to help meet your exercise goals. They’re free to use onCopilot and Copilot Pro, whether you’re on a desktop or using the app.

We’ll focus on the mobile app version here:

Alternatively:

The other custom GPTs (Vacation Planner and Cooking Assistant) work similarly for their topics. Just chat with them about your specific interests and needs, and they’ll generate personalized recommendations.

Whether you’re looking for writing inspiration, better-balanced responses, easier AI-generated image editing, or personalized assistants for specific topics, this update aims to make Copilot an even more versatile sidekick.
