Gigantamax Pokémon are finally making theirPokémon GOdebut, with the Kanto starter trio Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard getting the giant-sized treatment first. As well as becoming incredibly powerful, Gigantamax Pokémon also change their appearance and have access to an exclusive attack, so you’ll want to add as many of them to your collection as possible.

Up to 40 Trainers can competein these Gigantamax Raid Battles, which should give you an idea of how powerful Gigantamax Pokémon are going to be in the mobile game. If you’re planning on challenging Gigantamax Venusaur, it’s essential to brush up on its weaknesses and the best counters you can use to target them. Without this knowledge, you’ll be knocked out before you’ve even had a chance to Dynamax your own Pokémon.

Gigantamax Venusaur Weaknesses & Resistances

Four Vulnerabilities To Take Advantage Of

Gigantamax Venusaur is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon, which meansit’s vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic-type attacks. Given the limited number of Dynamax-capable Pokémon currently available in the game, you’re going to have the best luck focusing on Fire and Psychic-type attacks.

Gigantamax Venusaur will appear in Gigantamax Raid Battles atPower Spotsas part of the GO Bigger event, which runs from October 26 at 10 AM to October 27 at 8 PM local time.

Charizard, Metagross, and Cinderace, three of the best counters against Dynamax Cryogonal in Pokemon GO

On the flip side, Gigantamax Venusaur is resistant toElectric, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, and Water-type attacks. This means it will take heavily reduced damage from these moves, so avoid using them wherever possible.

Best Counters For Gigantamax Venusaur

Three Super-Effective Dynamax Pokémon

The best counters for Gigantamax Venusaur areDynamax Metagross, Dynamax Charizard, and Dynamax Cinderace. All of these Pokémon have Fast Attacks and Charged Attacks that can target Venusaur’s weaknesses. Not only does this mean they can dish out super-effective damage, but it also means they’ll have super-effectiveMax Moveswhen Dynamaxed, which is one of the key requirements for winning Max Battles.

Another decent option for your team isDynamax Gengar. Although it doesn’t have a Fast Attack (and by extension, a Max Move) that can target Gigantamax Venusaur’s weaknesses, it does have a Psychic-type Charged Attack that will be super-effective in battle. Gengar is also generally one of the best Raid attackers in the game, making it a powerful addition to your team even if it can’t unleash super-effective attacks.

If you don’t have any of these in your collection, It will simply be a case of taking your most powerful Dynamax-capable Pokémon into battle and hoping for the best. Although Niantic has recommended that a minimum of 10 Trainers should take part in each Gigantamax Raid Battle, the limit is actually 40 Trainers, so getting as close to that number as possible will help your chances greatly.

The chances of finding that many Trainers randomly taking on a Gigantamax Raid Battle are very slim, so I’d recommend checking the Campfire app or looking for localPokémon GOgroups to see if there are any Gigantamax Raid meetup plans in place. You might just be able to tag along and find enough Trainers to win this difficult battle against Gigantamax Venusaur.
