Pokémon’s World Championship Merch Includes Some Fun Wearables
Players Can Buy A Backpack Or Lanyard Themed Around The Event
One handy bit of merchandise being sold at thePokémon World Championships(revealed byIGN) this year is a themed backpack. This includes the logo for World Championships 2024, as well as a Pikachu in snorkeling gear. It also has a Hawaiian pattern to fit with the event’s location. The backpack isn’t too bulky and would bethe perfect way for attendees to carry their decksand other purchases around during the tournament. Of course, if players choose to do so, they will probably want to ensure they can tell their backpack apart from all the others.
Another wearable that is perfect for an event like the World Championships is the event’s official lanyard.Players can use the lanyard to display any passesfor the event, and can also use it to show off any Pokémon pins they may have. Lanyards are always a great inclusion for tournaments or conventions since they have a practical function but can also serve as a souvenir/collectible for players who want to display which events they have attended.

New Pokémon Game Accessories Commemorate This Year’s Championship
Pokémon Has Released Two New Deck Boxes, A Playmat, & More
As aPokémon TCGevent, it only makes sense that there would be plenty of trading card accessories at the 2024 World Championship. One of the coolest accessories for TCG players is the new World Championships playmat, which features art of Pikachu and many other Pokémon snorkeling inside a large pair of goggles. The mat’s backdrop features a silhouetted landscape of a Hawaiian beach, with even more Pokémon both above and below the waves. The playmat also comes with a matching canvas bag for storage and transport.
Another accessory for protecting one’s cards is the matching card sleeves with a truncated version of the art from the playmat. Though the art is cool, and sleeves are always a good practical accessory, art sleeves like these can sometimes tend to be a little sticky at first. Players may want to wait to use these sleeves until they get home from worlds, so they avoid any shuffling issues with sticky sleeves during the actual event.

Aside from sleeves, players can also buy a single- or double-wide deck box. The two-deck box features the same artwork as the playmat, while the single-deck box has a similar version to the card sleeves. The double-wide deck box also includes inserts for separating cards. Both boxes are made of flexible plastic, which isn’t necessarily the most protective casing for cards. Players will likely want something more heavy-duty for their expensive decks.
The lastPokémon TCGaccessory from the event is the coin and damage markers set, whichincludes ten damage marker dice and three coins. They also come in a nice display box that has the Honolulu 2024 logo on the inside, and the same art as the playmat on the outside.

New Plush For Some Fan-Favorite Pokémon
There Are New Plushies For Pikachu, Riolu, & Azumarill
Aside from the game accessories at the 2024PokémonWorld Championships, there are also three new exclusivePokémonplushies. Aside from being cute, exclusive plushies like these can also become valuable collector’s items over time. Players attending the event who are on the fence about buying one of these plush toys may want to just grab them while they can, instead of having to pay an inflated price later on if they change their minds.
Of the three new plushies, the least-themed one is the Azumarill. Aside from a pink flower stick behind Azumarill’s ear, there is no major indication that this plush is exclusive to the 2024 World Championships. Some players will likely prefer this more subtle plush, as it does have at least one feature distinguishing it from other Azumarill, but it doesn’t have too many accessories. Other players may prefer one of the other two plushes which aremore heavily themed towards the event’s Hawaiian setting.
What will probably be the most popular plush from this event is the snorkeling Pikachu. AsPokémon’s mascot,Pikachu is always going to be a popular choice, and an exclusive version will likely be even more sought-after. The final plush is a snorkeling Riolu, equipped with a waterproof camera. The extra detail on this plush adds a lot to the appeal, and its sitting pose makes it easy to display.
Pokémon’s Next Two Squishmallows Couldn’t Be More Perfect
The popular Pokémon and Squishmallow plush toy collaboration is about to get bigger, with two new models of fan favorites announced to arrive soon.
A Pikachu Instrument Is Perfect For Honolulu 2024’s World Championships
The Merch Includes A Pikachu-Branded Ukulele
The final bit of merchandise for thePokémon2024 World Championships isaukulele featuring artwork of Pikachuin snorkeling gear and a Hawaiian beach. The sound hole on the ukulele is also shaped like Pikachu’s head, which is a nice detail that helps it stand out. While this likely won’t be the most popular accessory sold,Pokémonfans who also happen to play the ukulele will get a big kick out of this inclusion.
Overall, the World Championship merchandise is a pretty strong showing. There are some nice small practical bits of merchandise - like the card sleeves - that players can pick up as a souvenir for the event while also knowing they will use them at some point. There is also a good variety for players who want to go all out and buy as much merch as possible from the event, so it seems unlikely anyPokémonplayers will be leaving Honolulu disappointed with this selection.
