Summary

It has already been teased thatAlien: Romuluswill have a lot of character deaths, and here are some predictions for which of the characters make it out of the film alive. TheAlienmovies are notoriously deadly, with very few characters managing to encounter a Xenomorph and see the light of day again throughout the franchise. However, several characters' fates seem to have already been sealed ahead of the release ofAlien: Romulus, with multiplemembers of theAlien: Romuluscastpurportedly dying in the various trailers and other pieces of marketing material.

Alien: Romulusis set to follow an all-new cast of characters, with Cailee Spaeny’s Rain Carradinetaking the reins from Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripleyas the protagonist of the beloved sci-fi horror franchise. Very little about the story ofAlien: Romulushas been revealed by the trailers, with it only being known that the movie’s timeline is set betweenAlienandAliens. Rather than leaning into the lore of the franchise, the trailer hints thatAlien: Romuluswill bring back the horror and violence of the original film, which is bad news for these characters.

Which Movies You Should Watch Before Alien: Romulus (& Which You Can Skip)

Alien: Romulus is the ninth installment in the franchise, but its place in the timeline means that not every other movie has to be watched beforehand.

Alien: Romulus' Trailers Have Already Confirmed 3 Character Deaths

Throughout the trailers and TV spots that have been released forAlien: Romulus, three characters have essentially been confirmed to die in the film. The first and most obvious of these is Aileen Wu’s Navarro, a character who has been featured heavily throughout the marketing ofAlien: Romulus. The trailers show a clip of her being attacked by a Facehugger, a clip of a Chestburster breaking out of her, and a clip of another character holding her bloodied body. Thus, it is likely that this will be one ofAlien: Romulus' early kills, meaning Navarro won’t be around for long.

Sadly, Navarro isn’t the only character whoAlien: Romulusis preparing to kill off. The trailer also shows Spike Fearn’s Bjorn get into some deadly situations, with him being attacked by Facehuggers in one clip and getting stabbed by an alien spike in another. It is possible that he could survive these instances, but theAlien: Romulustrailers make it seem unlikely. On top of that, David Jonsson’s Andy also has his eyes go white in one clip, and since he is playingone ofAlien’s synthetics inAlien: Romulus, this could mean that his android body is shutting down.

Alien: Romulus Can’t Copy One Part Of The Original Movie (& That’s Good)

Alien: Romulus can no longer copy one element of director Ridley Scott’s 1979 original Alien, but this is secretly a good thing for the reboot.

Which Characters Are Also Likely To Die In Alien: Romulus

Nobody Is Safe

Although only three characters have seemingly been confirmed to die in the trailers so far, it is doubtful that they will be the only ones.Alien: Romulushas promised to be one of the franchise’s deadliest films, with director Fede Álvarez specifically saying that “There’s a lot of death in this movie.” Most of the movies in theAlienfranchise end up killing off the vast majority of their casts, meaning that the rest of theAlien: Romuluscharacters definitely aren’t safe. After all, the movie wants to keep some deaths as a surprise.

Outside of the main character and the three characters that have already been touched on,the rest of theAlien: Romuluscast consists of Archie Renaux’s Tyler and Isabela Merced’s Kay. The trailers haven’t given any info regarding the fates of these characters just yet, but since theAlien: Romuluscharacters undoubtedly wouldn’t spoil every death, it seems likely that these two are on the chopping block.

If Alien: Romulus' Trailers Are Spoiling This Much, I Think A Big Surprise Must Be Coming

The Alien: Romulus trailers have seemingly spoiled a lot of the movie, but that might mean that it’s hiding an even bigger surprise that is coming.

These Characters Will Be Alien: Romulus' Only Survivors

Could More Characters Appear?

Following in the tradition of theAlienfranchise, it seems likely thatCailee Spaeny’s Rain Carradine will be one of the film’s only survivors. This has been the case with Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley in previous films, and since Cailee Spaeny’s character seems to be following in her franchise footsteps, it would make sense for her to survive until the end.

It has also been speculated thatAlien: Romuluscontains some surprise characters, although this is as of yet unconfirmed. Since the status and story of these surprise characters is yet unknown, it is impossible to predict who will die. However, if this theory does turn out to be true, it would only make sense for some of these characters to survive alongside Rain Carradine. While the potential for more characters is exciting, it will be impossible to know for sure untilAlien: Romulusis released in theaters.
