OneAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan has found an ingenious way to honor the memory of the villagers who have moved on from their island.ACNHislands can only house 10 villagers at a time, plus the players, which can sometimes lead to difficult decisions. Getting new characters to move into the island requires getting another villager to move out, essentially replacing them in the neighborhood.

to have the perfect grouping of villagers inACNH,Reddit userFast-Morning-3876has had to kick off several other villagers to make room. Their sacrifices weren’t in vain, though, as the Redditor haskept their memory alive by building them a little graveyard. Their title of the Reddit post isn’t as kind, though, saying"RIP to my villagers that passed (I kicked them out for better ones)."

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Commemorates Characters That Have Moved On

The image shared by Fast-Morning-3876 shows their character standing and frowning in the middle of a small but tidy graveyard. The cemetery has several “western-style stone” outdoor furniture items lined up in neat rows, andeach gravestone has a photo of a villager propped up in front of it. The entire plot is surrounded by a stone fence.

SomeACNHvillagers have becomefan favorites and are on many players' wish lists, while others aren’t as popular. There are over 400 villagers inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, and naturally, not every character appeals to every player. Our Take: This Is An Ingenious Way To Remember Characters Who Have Left The Island

It might hurt to know there’s a “better” option that’s going to replace you in your home, and some villagers definitely play the guilt card when they’reconsidering leaving the island. Every villager who’s lived on my island has left their mark on it (yes, even Rocket, who’s certainly remembered, if not missed).Making a graveyard is a darkly adorable way to honor the memoryof every character who’s come through the island at one point in its history.

There’s just one problem with this idea, which is that characters who depart from the island aren’t necessarily “departed.” Villagers who leave the island are just moving to another place. In fact, players can even invite a villager who’s moved out to join them forcoffee at the Roost using an Amiiboand they’ll remember living on the island. Hopefully, Fast-Morning-3876 never does this, as it’ll be awkward trying to explain anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonvillager’s grave to that villager.
