Juni Ba’sThe Boy Wonder#3 delivers the long-awaitedTim Drake and Damian Wayne team-upthat fans have been anticipating for over three months. In this issue, the two brothers attend Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot’s gala in their civilian personas.
However, they aren’t there just for the mediocre hors d’oeuvres and lackluster conversation. Each has their own agenda for investigating the building, and as any Bat-Family fan knows, a good investigation requires at least one high-tech gadget. Hence,it isn’t shocking when Damian pulls out a hand-held version of the Batcomputer.

Damian Wayne’s Robin Introduces Fans to a Handheld Version of the Batcomputer
The narrative labels this gadget as a “military-grade supercomputer” that has never been commercialized, essentially a Batcomputer in function. However, unlike the usual multi-monitor monstrosity associated with the Batcomputer, this version is a handheld device resembling a classic Blackberry phone, easily stowable in one’s pocket. Thus, this handheld devicerepresents a modernized Batcomputer, updating this old-school Batman equipment for contemporary times. What is further interesting about this device is thatits capabilities include the ability to penetrate any security system while simultaneously pulling all relevant intelligence.
This gadget is unquestionably handy, even if it does somewhat detract from the appeal of investigating things the old-fashioned way—physically breaking into buildings and rummaging through physical and digital files. One standout aspect of this gadget is its striking similarity in functionality to Dick Grayson’s hacking deviceinYoung Justice. As some fans may recall, Dick had a supercomputer integrated into his gauntlet that allowed him to hack various security systems, granting him access to physical locations and digital files alike. Hence, this isn’t the first instance where DC has introduced the concept of a portable Batcomputer.

We’re Not Surprised, But Tim Drake Is Officially a Better Hacker Than Damian Wayne inThe Boy Wonder
Despite possessing his own supercomputer, Damian is unable to hack into Penguin’s security systems. However, it’s not Oswald’s firewalls that thwart the Boy Wonder, but interference from another signal that blocks Damian’s hacking attempts. Later in the issue, it’s revealed that the culprit isn’t just any spy but Damian’s own brother, who has been conducting his own hacking operation. Thus, Tim’s skill in pirating the system and foiling his younger brother’s attempts to gain access definitively prove thatRed Robinis a better hacker thanRobin.
