Summary

Ryan Reynoldssays that he plans to work with Hugh Jackman again soon after theirupcomingDeadpool & Wolverine. The project is the third movie in theDeadpoolfranchise (which is a subfranchise of theX-Menmovies) and marks the first time that Reynolds' title character will appear in an official installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Deadpool has made multiple jokes about both actor Hugh Jackman and hisX-Mencharacter Wolverine throughout the first two movies, the upcoming title will be the first time that the characters have shared the screen since 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Entertainment Weeklyrecently sat down with Reynolds to discuss the upcoming MCU movie, which premieres on July 26. During their conversation, the star revealed that he intends to collaborate with Jackman again soon. According to Reynolds, “we have one we’re looking to do soon.” He reflected on their creative partnership, saying that both he and Jackman are “rooting for each other,” which is part of what makes them a successful duo. Deadpool and Wolverine arrive in the TVA headquarters in Deadpool 3

We have one we’re looking to do soon. I would say that [ours] is like any relationship that is successful and works: It’s that two parties are rooting for each other. I’m always rooting for Hugh to score and win. I also know the infinite nuance of his heart and his mind and who he is. I can say firsthand that he’s a person who’s not just worth rooting for, he’s somebody who’s impossible to not root for.

What Will Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman’s Next Movie Be?

The Deadpool & Wolverine Co-Stars Haven’t Collaborated Much Outside The X-Men Franchise

TheDeadpool & Wolverinestarplayed coy about the nature of the project that the duo are considering collaborating on. However, it seemsunlikely that the movie being teased is part of the MCU. In the past, stars of the massive multimedia franchise have generally been asked to keep behind-the-scenes developments under their hats while conducting interviews, especially before the release of whatever movie a sequel would be following. Therefore, this new project may be entirely separate from the superhero genre.

So far, there is not much precedent for the type of project that Jackman and Reynolds might work on together outside theX-Menmovies. In the past, their most prominent feature collaboration was the 2021 action-comedyFree Guy, which starred Reynolds andfeatured Jackman in a brief voice-only cameo. Beyond that, their most notable collaboration was an appearance by Jackman in Reynolds' FX docuseriesWelcome to Wrexham.

Welcome to Wrexhamfollows the Wrexham Association Football Club after Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became its co-owners.

The way thatRyan Reynoldstalks about the project also makes it seem unlikely that the collaboration is one of the star’s upcoming movies that are already actively in the works, such as his 2025 movieAnimal Friends. Other announced projects likeClue,Calamity Hustle, andMaydaysimilarly have other major stars attached that may preclude Jackman from joining their casts. The most likely prospect is that the movie the star is referencing has not been announced yet at all.
