Netflix is set to ramp up its prices yet again, pushing its subscription prices higher. Despite Netflix revenues rising substantially during 2024, you’re still going to pay more to watch all of your favorite shows.
These Three Netflix Plans Will Cost More
During the streaming giant’s latest earnings report,Netflix announced[PDF] that it is raising the cost of its streaming subscriptions.
As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix. To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the US, Canada, Portugal and Argentina (which was already factored into the 2025 guidance we provided in October 2024)

To that end, the following Netflix subscriptions will increase in price:
This is the first cost increase for the ad-supported tier. The ad-free tier cost was last raised in January 2022. Premium members last saw a price increase in October 2023.
Netflix is also adding a new Extra Member with Ads option for $7.99 monthly. That will allow someone on the ad-supported plan to add another person outside their household to the subscription. Previously, adding someone else outside the home cost an additional $7.99 monthly on top of the ad-supported plan.
Streaming Video Continues to Get More Expensive
Netflix is a pioneer in streaming video and is one of the best services available, but there are a number ofreasons to avoid subscribing to Netflix—let alone this price increase after recording monster profits in 2024.
If you’re willing to put up with the price increases, take a look at someways to improve your Netflix experience, like enabling smart downloads. To save money, there are somepositives to subscribing to the ad-supported tierof Netflix and other services like Disney+ and Max.
While I’m less than thrilled with the Netflix price increase, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise. I’ll likely continue to pay for the ad-free tier thanks to the top-notch content and one of the most overlooked parts of the service, thegreat games that are well worth playing.
