The Mandalorian & Grogu D23 Footage Reveals A Star Wars Rebels Hero’s Return

Star Wars has unveiled an exclusive look at The Mandalorian & Grogu movie with tons of reveals, including the return of one Star Wars Rebels hero.

A Symbol Is Missing From The Mandalorian’s Movie Title

A few months after the announcement ofThe Mandalorian and Grogu, artwork was leaked concerning the film’s title card. This artwork was fairly straightforward, taking the font and style ofThe Mandalorianand simply adding Grogu’s name to it. Originally, this was done using an ampersand. The title was stylized asThe Mandalorian & Grogu, which is often the case for titles involving character names. Disney subsidiaries often use this stylization, from movies likeLilo & Stitchto the more recentDeadpool & Wolverine.

The Ampersand Is Gone - & Grogu Now Joins Din Djarin’s Silhouette

In the new title card released at D23, the ampersand in the title of the movie is gone. Instead ofThe Mandalorian & Grogu, the movie’s title is formatted asThe Mandalorian and Grogu. Why this change has been made is unclear, yet it could be the case that the leaked artwork originally containing the ampersand was unofficial and the title card released at D23 was always supposed to be Lucasfilm’s plan for the title.

Another subtle difference between the initial artwork and the D23 title card forThe Mandalorian and Groguis the latter’s silhouette. InThe Mandalorianseason 1, a silhouette of Din Djarin was implemented into the second “A” of the title. The Mandalorianseasons 2 and 3 had the same for Din and Grogu, withThe Mandalorian and Groguinstead including their silhouettes in the “O” of the first word, solidifying this as their first cinematic adventure together.
