Summary

Sweet Homeseason 3 just revealed more of Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok return, and it proves that the Netflix K-drama has learned from its season 2 mistake. As theSweet Homeseason 3 release dateapproaches, the marketing for the show’s final season ramps up with trailers, posters, and other promotional materials. The wait forSweet Home’s final seasonhas been quite different from the K-drama’s previous hiatus, asthe final chapter of Hyun-su’s journey will premiere only six months after season 2 arrived on Netflix.

The shorter wait forSweet Homeseason 3 is good news considering that season 2 was not as well received as its predecessor. Arguably the most popular ofSong Kang’s Netflix K-dramas,Sweet Homehas been a hit for the streamer since its debut and deserves a worthy grand finale. Sweet Home Season 3’s New Trailer Gives Lee Do-hyun The Spotlight

Eun-hyeok appears several times in the new trailer.

The second trailer forSweet Homeseason 3 shows quite a lot ofLee Do-hyun’s characterand gives the best look yet at Eun-hyeok’s return. Although Lee Do-hyun’s return to the show had been confirmed at the end of season 2, the promotional material for season 3 had so far kept Eun-hyeok’s role in the story under wraps. The first trailer had only shown Eun-hyeok as a background character in a couple of shots. Fortunately,Sweet Homeseason 3’s marketing has now given Eun-hyeok the spotlight he deserves after missing most of season 2.

Sweet Homewas a very different show in season 2, mainly because it introduced a lot of new characters while sidelining the ones viewers were used to.

Eun-hyeok was believed to be dead inSweet Home2following his sacrifice at the end of the first season. Eun-yu’s brother noticed he was bleeding from his nose and decided to stay behind and verify his friends could escape from the Green Home building as it was about to be destroyed. While a lot of fan theories claimed that Eun-hyeok was alive, it was only in the final scene ofSweet Homeseason 2’s finalethat his return was confirmed. Eun-hyeok was indeed alive, but he is now a monster.

Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok Was Missed In Sweet Home Season 2

Sweet Homewas a very different show in season 2, mainly because it introduced a lot of new characters while sidelining the ones viewers were used to. EvenSong Kang’s Hyun-su missed a lot of episodesand was essentially a supporting character in season 2. Additionally, Ji-su died in episode 3. Without so many of the fan-favorite characters from season 1,Sweet Homeseason 2 was not as well received as the show’s debut had been. The absence of Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok was particularly missed, as the character was the leader of the Green Home survivors.

Naturally,Sweet Homecould no longer replicate the structure of the first season now that the Green Home had been destroyed. The characters suddenly saw themselves out in the open and having to find new places to stay. Enter the stadium, which served as a new home not only to themainSweet Homecharactersthat were still alive but also to several new faces introduced before and after the time skip. The dynamic at the stadium was simply not as interesting as the one in the Green Home from season 1.

Sweet Home Season 3 Trailer Has Me Very Worried About Song Kang’s Hyun-su’s Fate

Sweet Home season 3’s trailer has me worried about what will happen to Song Kang’s Hyun-su, who’s ready to do whatever it takes to stop Sang-won.

Will Eun-hyeok Be A Villain In Sweet Home Season 3?

Eun-hyeok and Hyun-su will fight in season 3.

One worrying aspect ofSweet Homeseason 3’s new trailer is that Eun-hyeok appears to be a villain. Lee Do-hyun’s character says that he used to be a human but is now something like a neo-human in the final stage of the monsterization process. He also ironically asksSong Kang’s characterif he misses him, after which Eun-hyeok and Hyun-su start to fight.Sweet Home’s monster curse changes peopleand brings out the worst things about them, so it would not be surprising if Eun-hyeok was no longer that good friend from season 1.

Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si starred together in 2021’s Youth of May.

Eun-hyeok dodges an attack in Sweet Home season 3

That said, if Hyun-su was able to control his powers and suppress his “evil alter,” there is no reason to believe Eun-hyeok could not do the same. The trailer may be a red herring, focusing on the moments Eun-hyeok is not really in control. Fortunately, Eun-hyeok’s return will not be as tragic as the trailer is teasing. Eun-yu spent most ofSweet Homeseason 2 hoping that her brother was still alive, not to mention the friendship Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok built throughout season 1.
