Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Acolyte episode 7
Summary
The Acolytejust featured a very exciting High Republic Easter egg. The second part of the major Brendok flashback arc,The Acolyteepisode 7 reveals why the Jedi came to this particular Outer Rim planet in the first place before discovering Mae and Osha Aniseya (and the witches who raised them). Having been assigned by the Jedi Council to investigate Brendok, it’s confirmed that the planet was involved in one ofStar Wars’very first stories set in theHigh Republic Era.
InThe Acolyteepisode 7 and its flashback to Brendok 16 years before the show’s present-day events, Jedi Masters Indara and Kelnacca were joined by Jedi Knight Sol and Indara’s Padawan Torbin to study and composition and plant life of this seemingly uninhabited world. The reason is due to the potential discovery of a Force vergenceon this world, a concentration of powerful energy capable of incredible feats. To that end,the Jedi Council’s suspicions about Brendok come from its referenced involvement in “The Great Hyperspace Disaster” from one of the very first High Republic novels.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows
What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.
The Great Hyperspace Disaster Is The High Republic’s Earliest Story
From Light of the Jedi
In 2021’sLight of the Jediby Charles Soule, a ship known asThe Legacy Runwas struck and destroyed while traveling through hyperspaceby the marauders known as the Nihil. This became a major crisis across theStar Warsgalaxy known as the Great Hyperspace Disaster, as pieces of the ship were haphazardly shot out of hyperspace at random points, devastating nearby worlds upon impact. Known as “The Emergences”, the biggest concentration was in the Hetzal system, though multiple worlds were endangered as well.
Kicking off the entire High Republic Era publishing initiative, a reference toLight of the Jediand the Great Hyperspace Disaster by Master Indara inThe Acolyteis very exciting. After all, it’s the inciting incident that led to the Nihil’s years-long conflict with the Jedi and the Republic.Although the crisis took place 100 years before the events of theAcolyte, it’s the core reason why this team of Jedi were sent to Brendok in the first place, long before Sol discovered Mae and Osha and their gifts in the Force.

Brendok Was One Of Many Planets Affected By This Disaster
But Later Saved By The Force
According to Master Indara,Brendok was one of the worlds ravaged by the Emergences, becoming lifeless and uninhabitable. However, the planet later began inexplicably thriving with new life, the result of a suspected Force vergence the Jedi Council wanted to locate and secure for further study. As such, this looks to be the same nexus used by the witches to artificially createMae and Osha as one consciousness in the Force split between two beings. At any rate, a callback to the High Republic’s very first story is very cool, especially for those who’ve followed the era from the very beginning.
