The Amazon Prime Video app no longer lets you rent or buy content, but there’s a workaround
The Amazon Prime Video app has many movies, both new and old. Renting them is a great way to watch something specific for less and enjoy one-time viewings. Buying them means you own them and can watch them later. Usually, you can do either from yourpersonal profileon yourmobile phonesand tablets.

The reason for the update is that Amazon wants to keep more of your money. In the past, the retail giant and other sellers avoided paying Google’s in-app purchase fees. The company takes15% to 30% of all salesthrough their platforms, depending on how much they make and whether they join certain programs. If they earn more, they should pay a higher percentage. To clarify, a developer creates applications and makes them available on Google Play.
Google’s policy stops developers from processing transactions in their apps. If you want to rent TV shows, you’ll pay through Google Play instead of Amazon. Rather than pay the charges, Amazon prefers to remove the payment options altogether, hoping you’ll use its website.
Later, in May 2022, Google said it would let developers offer different payment options with their Play Store billing in apilot program. Spotify was the first to test it. It’s unlikely that Amazon joined the program since they haven’t updated their app to reflect any payment methods.
