This article contains spoilers from The Boys season 4 finale.
Summary
The Boysstar Susan Heyward discusses if her character, Sister Sage, is aligned with Homelander’s belief that supes are superior to humans. Since the beginning of the Prime Video series, Homelander has seen himself as a god, frustrated with having to interact with and at times even appease mere mortals.Sage’s planning helped Homelander assert his ideologyacross the United States of America, culminating inHomelander controlling President Calhoun, while hundreds of supes carry out martial law with legal authority.
In a conversation withTVLine, Heyward was askedwhether she thinks Sage cares about supe supremacyin the same way Homelander does and what her ultimate endgame is inThe Boys. Without knowing what is planned for season 5, Heyward does not know the full answers to these questions but shares her thoughts on whether Sage agrees with Homelander’s ideology and how this may tie into her real motives. She also suggested an unexpected direction her character could take inThe Boys' final episodes. Read Heyward’s comments below:

Boy, that’s two big questions. I’ll answer the second question first about her endgame being the same as Homelander’s. To me, dubious. Mostly because she’s the one introducing him to this level of thinking. His level of thinking was to take over Vought and be in charge of that capitalist entertainment conglomerate, and I think Sage is the one who’s thinking on a higher level that she’s taking him to. So I would not lean towards their endgame being the same because she’s the one who’s kind of introducing him to a new landscape. And then, that first question, I have to admit, I go back and forth, because part of the fun of Sage is you never really quite know what her genuine ideals are, and there’s definitely a part of me that hopes, for Season 5, we find out that it’s all been an act, and she actually is egalitarian and wants to protect humanity, as well. But it’s also really fun to get a different supremacist ideology, even a fictional one, because in the real world, the supremacist ideologies are pretty depressing to listen to. So at least this one is fake and can give us some entertainment.
Will Sage And Homelander Be Fully Aligned In Season 5?
Their Mutually Beneficial Agreement May Not Last.
Despite Homelander’s unparalleled powers, he may be outmatched by Sage, as Heyward points out that Homelander’s thinking is severely limited without her.
The Boysseason 4 endingseems to suggest thatSage and Homelander’s partnership will continue into season 5, as they both get what they want in the end, and Sage tells Homelander to prepare for Phase Two of her plan. Their partnership can continue to be mutually beneficial as Homelander gets to feel like a god, and Sage gets to put her radical theories to the test. Their endgames may not be aligned, but that does not matter as long as their quid pro quo arrangement continues.

This Confirmed The Boys Season 5 Supe Is Very Exciting After 5 Years Of Waiting
The Boys just saw one of its main human characters turn themselves into a supe, with this being one of the most exciting parts of the finale.
Heyward does present a tantalizing possibility thatSage and Homelander will be in conflict with each otherinThe Boysseason 5, whether it be that Sage reveals herself to secretly be egalitarian, or that she stops working with Homelander once he is no longer useful to her. Sage suddenly wanting to protect humanity is unlikely, but there is merit to the idea of her and Homelander turning against each other. Despite Homelander’s unparalleled powers, he may be outmatched by Sage, as Heyward points out that Homelander’s thinking is severely limited without her.
In season 4, episode 6, “Dirty Business,” Homelander struggles to execute the plan without Sage’s guidance while her brain is reforming.
This could raise the stakes in the final season, with the Boys having to deal with Homelander and Sage at war with each other, or evenSage becoming a greater threat than Homelander. While Homelander is impulsive, he is more predictable, as he will always choose the option he believes will give him immediate gratification. Sage, on the other hand, is far more unpredictable and may become even more dangerous if she continues her plan without Homelander inThe Boysseason 5.
