In chapter #1120, Vegapunk explains how history is written by the winners, in this case, the World Government who defeated the Ancient Kingdom, and this is why history needs to be approached from multiple perspectives in order to fully understand it. Vegapunk bemoans that he did not have enough time to do so himself, but reveals that Roger, through his journey around the world, was curiously able to do so.
Vegapunk goes as far as to say Roger and his crew heard the “purest voices of the past”, implying that Roger and his crew learned about the Void Century at Laugh Tale from anunquestionably credible source that gave them the pure, unbiased truth, allowing them to come to their own conclusions. This may be why Vegapunk claims he cannot pass judgments on which side was right or wrong during the Ancient War and why Rayleigh claimed the Straw Hats could arrive at a different answer than they did.
There are numerous possibilities as to what this source could be, but this stress on the “voices of the past” in the latest chapter suggests the Voice of All Things may have played a role inRoger’s discovery at Laugh Tale. Very little is known about the Voice of All Things— how it is developed, whether it is a rare form of haki, or whether it is an entirely different ability.
