There’s Still A Lot Unknown About Nami
AlthoughNami’s tragic childhood was already revealedat the beginning of the series, there is nothing saying that her past can’t be revisited again. The best case is Sanji, where the first flashback was his life with Zeff, and the second was his childhood in the Vinsmoke family.Luffy’s childhood was also revisited, where his relationship with Sabo and Ace was properly fleshed out to make viewers understand the weight of his loss.
There was a lot of foreshadowing and buildup for Sanji’s second backstory, but the mysteries surrounding Nami’s birth are just as interesting, given how little there is to know about it. When they were babies, Nami and her sister Nojiko were adopted by Marine Bellemere after she discovered the two in the destroyed Oykot Kingdom. That is all that is known about Nami before she was taken to Cocoyasi village.
Who her parents are and the history of the fallen kingdom could be revealed in a new Nami flashback, especially given how important politics and the World Government are at the moment in the series. Whether the story ofNami’s early years as conceived forOne Piece: Strong Worldwill one day be revealed or not, the fact that it managed to shock the staff of the movie only serves to fuel the anticipation and expectations for the true past ofOne Piece’s beloved heroine.
