WithTower of Godseason 2, episode #21, picking up after the events of the previous episode, Bam is seen wounded, but not executed, by Beta for his capture. As Bam soon learns, when Reflejo appears before him, subdued in the presence of the Thorn, the FUG operation appears to have planned for these moments.FUG’s plans are to melt him, a human with the power of an Irregular, to create a proper Living Ignition Weapon, effectively also taking Bam out of the Workshop Battle. However, Team Khun isn’t about to take this development lying down.
As the Workshop Battle announces these occurrences, there’s also mention of Team Mad Dog’s forfeiting, alongside four Team FUG member departures: Jue Viole Grace (Bam), Horyang, Novick, and a Team FUG scout. The remaining Team Mad Dog members are partially integrated into FUG to make up some of the deficit, bringing Ron Mei and Baragav to the unit to consolidate their might back. But the rogue FUG departures could be the downfall of their plans with Bam, asit presents an opportunity to rescue him from FUG’s grasp.
Khun learns about each of these developments, including reuniting with Hatz, who tells him about Lero-Ro’s infiltration of the Workshop, learning about their plans along with FUG’s.Khun soon devises a plot to rescue Bam, starting inTower of Godseason 2, episode #22, using the rogue FUG defectors to make contact with Bam to set him up to be summoned after that. For the fans, this means there’s a genuine chance of Bam being reunited with all of his old friends by the end ofTower of Godseason 2.

Say what must be said aboutTower of God’sanimation, but its narrative and execution, once shown in full view for this arc, is a fascinating story even if told painfully slowly. Season 2 will be remembered far more differently from season 1 of the anime, not the least of which being its studio changes or overall greater focus on worldbuilding.Khun’s cleverness as a leader is a compelling case to raise confidence in the viewers of his rescue plan, made all the more enticing by how powerful their opponents are at Team FUG.
Beta’s backstory is tantalizingly teased, multiple moving parts of the subplots finally intersect, and the mystery of the Living Ignition Weapons and what FUG plans to do with Bam make for enticing plot developments. The lighting issues are nonexistent compared to earlier in the season, and there is renewed energy, thanks largely to returns of fan favorites like Rak. However,as faithfully as it was adapted, much of the rest ofTower of Godseason 2 stands as an obstacle one must cross before getting to these exciting last episodes; one must hope it’s not too little or too late.
