Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’s Police Station & Other Settings Use Iconic Beverly Hills Landmarks As Backdrops
It should come as no surprise that a large chunk of the scenes inEddie Murphy’s nostalgicBeverly Hills Cop: Axel Fwere filmed on location in Beverly Hills, California — a wealthy and historic suburb of Los Angeles. Murphy’s character is drawn back to the West Coast shortly after his retirement from the Detroit police force when Rosewood, now a PI and Jane’s mentor, informs Axel that his criminal defense attorney daughter is in trouble. When Rosewood is abducted, Axel returns to town, only to wind up arrested afteran intense chase sequence through Beverly Hills' iconic Rodeo Drive.
The movie uses Beverly Hills City Hall… as the exterior of the suburb’s ritzy police station.

Known as one of the most expensive streets in the world, Rodeo Drive isn’t the only Beverly Hills landmark to appear onscreen. After Axel is arrested in front of the Bijan clothing store, the movie uses Beverly Hills City Hall, a prominent example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, as the exterior of the suburb’s ritzy police station. Other police station scenes were shot at the adjacent Beverly Hills Civic Center. Later, the film’s iconic shootout unfolds on Wilshire Boulevard and North Doheny Drive, makingBeverly Hills Cop: Axel F’sending, beginning, and everything in between feel more authentic.
