Extraction 3 Gets Upbeat Progress Update From Chris Hemsworth
Summary
Extraction 3gets a new update from star Chris Hemsworth atSan Diego Comic-Con, revealing why the third film is taking so long. The firstExtractionmovie in 2020, directed by Sam Hargrave, introduced audiences to Hemsworth’s lethal mercenary, Tyler Rake, who is tasked with rescuing a VIP from a dangerous area of Dhaka. The world of the hit Netflix action film expanded last year with the release of Hargrave’s sequel, andExtraction 3has since been confirmedto be in development.
In a recent interview withColliderat SDCC, Hemsworth reveals the current status ofExtraction 3, touching on why the sequel is taking so long. According to the actor, the main reason for the film still being in the early stages of development is a desire to make sure a strong story is in placebefore moving ahead. Check out Hemsworth’s comment below:

“We’re in the middle of putting it together now, and writing it, and just trying to crack the story. Each time there’s been such a great collective collaboration between myself, Sam, the Russos, Netflix in expanding that universe and bringing that courage in life.
“We just wanna make sure that we have it right, and that we have a script that is good enough basically to follow the last two, because I’m really proud of what we’ve done previously, and hopefully we can do it again. It’s exciting, in the early stages of putting it all together. It’s a fun process.”

What’s Next For Tyler Rake In Extraction 3?
Where Chris Hemsworth’s Character Can Go Next
TheExtraction 2endingsees Rake and Nik (Golshifteh Farahani) in prison before meeting with a mysterious new character played by Idris Elba. Elba’s character offers Rake and Nik a new mission in exchange for their freedom, with the end credits rolling before anything more is revealed.Extraction 3, then, already has an obvious place to start, since Rake has a challenging new task ahead of him.
BothExtractionmovies have been massive viewership hits for Netflix.
While the specifics of this new mission aren’t revealed, the film’s title and Rake’s particular skill set would suggest that he will be extricating a high-value individual from dangerous territory. After the first film takes place in the hot streets of Dhaka, the sequel moves the action to frigid Eastern Europe, andExtraction 3’s setting would seemingly see Rake travel to a new environmentonce more. Urban combat, in particular, has been a staple of the last two films, and a third movie would seemingly follow this same pattern.
Extraction’s 2’s 3 Action & Fight Scenes, Ranked By How Incredible They Are
Extraction 2 builds on its predecessor in terms of its incredible action sequences, and here is every one of them ranked by their impressive feats.
It’s not clear how many members of theExtraction 2cast, including Tinatin Dalakishvili as Ketevan, Andro Japaridze as Sandro Radiani, and Olga Kurylenko as Mia, would return for a third movie, butExtraction 3is essentially guaranteed to feature at least one franchise staple: the one-take action scene. Both movies' “oners” have been highlights of their respective films, and the third film would have the challenging task of going above and beyond the 21-minute sequence featured in the most recent installment. Hemsworth’s latest update, however, suggestsExtraction 3is still a ways away.
