What Happened To Scarlet Witch’s Sons After WandaVision?
Agatha All Along raises the idea of Scarlet Witch’s sons being alive via Wiccan, begging the question of what previously happened to them in the MCU.
The version of Billy Maximoff portrayed by Julian Hilliard never technically had a physical form. Instead, he was forged from the magic of the Scarlet Witch inside the Westview Hex, as was his brother, Tommy. Despite this, BillyMaximoff still exhibited the same abilities he harnesses in Marvel Comics, teasing his future as the MCU’s Wiccan, a formidablemember of the Young Avengers. Joe Locke
Long after Billy Maximoff was reabsorbed by Mephisto in Marvel Comics, his soul was reincarnated in the body of Billy Kaplan. This saw Billy Maximoff debut as an entirely new character, but he was still confirmed to be the son of the Scarlet Witch. This is likely the case inAgatha All Along, explaining why Hilliard did not reprise the role. While he hasn’t yet been named, it seemsJoe Locke is Billy Kaplan, inhabited by Billy Maximoff’s soul. His connection to the Scarlet Witch is still clear, however, andAgatha All Along’supcoming episodes will explain how.
Julian Hilliard Could Still Return As Wiccan In The MCU’s Future
Multiversal Maximoffs Have Already Been Seen In The MCU
While it is very exciting to seeJoe Locke’s Wiccan in the MCU, it’s also a shame that Julian Hilliard hasn’t returned to portray the role. Hilliard and Jett Klyne, who portrayed the young Tommy Maximoff, were stand-outs inWandaVision, but Marvel Studios may have already revealed how they can return. On Earth-838 inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Billy and Tommy Maximoff had physical bodies, so it’s very possible that versions of Wiccan and Speed from across the multiverse could return in the MCU’s future.
