Summary

The Sims 4had a free base game update on July 23, but players may want to hold off on downloading it. The update was meant to fix some bugs, as well as add new features toThe Sims 4ahead of theLovestruckExpansion Pack’s official release on June 15, 2025. While this update was meant to improve the base game, it seems like it may have had the opposite effect.

While players are getting ready for a romance-themed expansion toThe Sims 4, it seems like their Sims have been acting the exact opposite of how players would hope. Some players have notedmajor personality changes in their Sims. OtherSimsplayers have experienced a very uncomfortable glitchwhich has been an issue with the game in the past. Players will likely want to wait for these issues to be resolved before updating their games.

The Latest Sims 4 Update Has Caused Overly Mean Sims

Sims Act Overly Aggressive & Have A Negative Impact On Relationships

One issue that has been reported regarding the latestSims 4update is users’Sims becoming overly aggressive. In a Reddit thread, userbarefootwaspcommented that one of their Sims would not stop yelling at her children, which had negative effects on the Sims’ relationships and confidence levels. Similar issues were reported by userFlakey-Construction97, who mentioned that their Sims’ romantic relationship had been negatively affected by their Sims acting overly jealous and starting fights with other members of the community over minor actions.

These types of issues can be very frustrating in a game likeThe Sims 4. Players have to dedicate a lot of time to forming and maintaining relationships between Sims, soto have that ruined by an update that is out of their control is understandably disappointing. Players experiencing this issue will likely have to wait until the game is fixed or else they risk losing a lot of progress. While this issue is frustrating, it at least isn’t as creepy as another issue reportedly caused by the new update.

The Sims 4’s Base Update Caused The Return Of An Uncomfortable Romance Glitch

Sims Have Been Forming Romantic Relationships With Family Members

Over the years,The Sims 4players have periodically reportedglitches that cause their sims to ignore familial relationships while forming romantic attachments. This has resulted in close relatives flirting and even dating against the players’ will. Now, followingThe Sims 4’s recent update, it seems this issue has returned.

UserAlas_Enkidureported on EA’s site that, after installing the latest update, several of their sims had formed romantic relationships with close relatives. Alas_Enkidu did not actively attempt to form these relationships and points the finger at the new “romantic changes” to Neighborhood Stories that were introduced in the latest update as the cause. This report came hours after EA was made aware of issues with the update, showing that the issue has persisted even after attempts to fix it.

This type of glitch can be even more frustrating than the issue with angry or mean Sims.Players will now have to be forced to break up Sims who should never have been dating in the first place, and be forced to deal with the negative emotions that Sims experiences following that. Players may also have to work to re-establish the romantic connections they had actually wanted to pursue that may have gotten derailed by these unfortunate relationships between family members.

EA Is Working On A Fix For The Sims 4

EA Is Aware Of The Issues & Reportedly Working To Correct Them

Following the many reports of these issues, EA reached out viaThe Sims Direct Communicationsaccount on Twitter. In their statement, they said that they were aware of these two issues and working on fixing them. An exact estimate on when a fix would be live was not given, onlya promise that it would be fixed “soon.”As of now, any players that have not installed the latestSims 4update may want to hold off on doing so until these fixes have gone through.

These glitches are likely to be even more frustrating forThe Sims 4players given their timing. With theLovestruckexpansion releasing July 06, 2025, players are likely looking forward to checking out the new content added to the game. Instead, they will be unable to fully experiencewhatLovestruckhas to offerdue to these glitches. Hopefully, EA can find a way to fix whatever is causing these unfortunate issues withThe Sims 4quickly, as players will likely only continue to get more frustrated the longer they have to wait to experience this new content.
